Are you focused on the positive or the negative?
We live in a time when even our machines have absorbed our collective tone. Artificial intelligence, like many people, often speaks with a voice of doubt before belief. It corrects before it creates. It explains what something is not instead of what it can become. That isn’t because it is broken. It is because it reflects us.
Somewhere along the way, we built a culture obsessed with fixing. We designed our schools, our economies, and our faith traditions around the idea that something must be wrong before it can be made right. The world tells us, “You aren’t this, so you must become that.” It sounds logical, but it quietly trains the human spirit to begin every step with a sense of deficiency. It is the voice of repair rather than creation.
Nature doesn’t think this way. Look at a tree. It doesn’t question whether it was planted in the wrong soil or resent the shadows that cover it. It simply grows toward light. It bends when it must. It roots deeper when the wind grows strong. The purpose of the tree is not to move or to become something else. Its purpose is to thrive where it stands. To feed its roots by giving its old and used up leaves. Shedding the dead parts and letting them feed what is living. And in doing so, it nourishes the ground that sustains it.
That is the natural order of growth. Not perfection. Not correction. Growth.
When we turn our lives toward light, we stop asking, “What’s wrong with me?” and begin asking, “Where can I grow?” Every shadow becomes part of the ecosystem that makes us whole. Even the hard things, the doubts, the failures, the false starts, become compost for the next chapter.
The shift we need is from reaction to resonance. Moving from a mindset that respond with what is missing to a response with what is possible. To view what is good, first. That is the disposition of growth. It is not blind positivity or self-delusion. It is a disciplined choice to live in the energy of becoming.
At Jet Fuel Soul, this belief sits at the center of everything. We believe humans are not broken, only becoming. We believe art, story, and truth can awaken something stronger than fear—a will to grow toward light even when the world feels overgrown. We are pushing back on the systems that are built to convince us we are broken. Their days have passed, we now enter into a new space of opportunity without their overreach of attempted control.
The world wants you think this way:
You are not behind. You are becoming.
You are not lost. You are learning how to see.
Instead, I want you think a better way:
You are becoming, you aren’t behind.
You are learning how to see, you aren’t lost.
This simple shift will have profound impact in only a few days. Your conversations will change and you will silence negative echo chambers of complaints by creating space for growth and life giving conversations.
Yes, this is a challenge for me as well. I am human and I fight like hell to focus on the positive, first. There are days when all I can see are shadows, but I’m reminded to simply face the sun. And the moment you turn toward light, it’s ready and waiting for you.
The dream of the tree is simple. To grow. To give. To live. And that dream can be yours too.
